Phoenix
Phoenix is an emulator specializing in the backward compatibility of gaming systems for 3DO, Atari Jaguar, ColecoVision, and Sega Master System. Initially developed as a rewrite of FreeDO, it aims for precise emulation of the game libraries of these platforms, with particular attention to the 3DO. The interface, partially in Russian, is based on the Qt library, offering advanced peripheral management (controllers, joysticks, and specific devices like coin operators or Flightsticks).
While originally designed for Windows and Linux, Phoenix provides a version for macOS (64-bit only), tailored to modern architectures. The emulator includes features such as hardware rendering, compressed image management, external graphical filters, and an annotation editor. Performance on macOS depends on a processor starting from 1.6 GHz and a graphics card compatible with OpenGL 2.0, with a recommendation for x64 processors. Compatibility is reported as high (95% to 100% depending on the system), but some advanced features (such as CD-ROM emulation) are still under development.
