Mupen64

Émulateur v0.5.1

Mupen64 is a Nintendo 64-focused emulator designed to accurately replicate its hardware and games. Initially developed by Adam Green, it was later maintained by contributors such as Hacktarux, Flea, and Lamer0, who notably ported the original version to macOS (Intel only). While its performance remains limited compared to more recent alternatives, it stands out for its modularity, relying on a plugin system (such as the RSP HLE plugin for GPU emulation).

The historical macOS port, though no longer officially maintained, remains playable via adapted binaries. A dedicated version, Mupen64Plus, was developed for Intel architectures, offering better integration with macOS configurations of the time. The emulator prioritizes compatibility and stability, with notable improvements in audio synchronization and game state management. However, its use remains limited to users willing to accept trade-offs in smoothness to explore less optimized N64 titles.
