BM2

BM2 is an emulator dedicated to the Hitachi BASIC Master Level-3 Mark 5, better known as BASIC MASTER Jr. (MB-6885). It replicates the software and hardware environment of this Japanese machine from the 1980s, used for developing BASIC programs and utilizing peripherals such as printers or I/O interfaces. The emulator supports original ROMs and allows reading cassettes via a complementary tool (bmtape2), with limited compatibility for games and software designed for this platform.

On macOS, only a PowerPC version (based on 2012 sources) is available, with no support for recent architectures (Apple Silicon or macOS post-2010). No official build is provided for modern systems. The sources remain accessible for manual compilation, but their use requires development skills. The emulator is useful for collectors or developers interested in the BASIC Master legacy, but its lack of maintenance limits its use to compatible configurations.
